Our client, a well-established, AAHA-accredited small animal practice near Wilmington, North Carolina, is seeking a Medical Director to lead their dedicated and collaborative clinical team. This multi-doctor practice is known for delivering high-quality care in a warm, supportive environment. The hospital is beautifully maintained and fully equipped, offering a blend of advanced medical capabilities and comfort for both patients and team members.
Facilities include ultrasound, cold laser therapy, in-house laboratory, digital dental and whole-body radiology, and a fully outfitted surgical suite with cautery, multiparameter monitoring, warming devices, and an oxygen cage. The hospital also offers hands-free radiology and has thoughtfully designed separate cat and dog boarding areas, as well as a full-time, weekday doggie daycare program with a beautifully landscaped, astro-turfed outdoor play yard.
With an experienced and tenured support team in place, the practice provides a robust foundation for both medical excellence and outstanding leadership.
About this Role:
As the Medical Director, you will play a key leadership role while remaining actively involved in clinical care. You will oversee medical quality and standards, mentor associates, guide case management, and collaborate with hospital leadership to shape the direction of the practice. This is a hands-on leadership position suited to a veterinarian who thrives on building relationships, fostering team development, and delivering excellent patient care.
Your clinical responsibilities will include a mix of wellness and sick-pet care, routine surgeries, and palliative services, all within a full-time schedule that offers work-life balance and no overnight hospitalization.

Qualifications:
You will hold a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or equivalent and be eligible for veterinary licensure in North Carolina. A demonstrated ability to lead a team and uphold the highest standards of veterinary care is essential.
